about

“Anisotropic Forces” is inspired by the cells of human body in constant metamorphosis attaching the body,
and simultaneously, the body fighting with itself to survive.
All signals and sounds are inspired by a mixture of a kind of cells with different controversial behaviors, creating a sonic-living world in a chaotic transformation to keep the body alive. This release is inspired by the real biological multicellular phenomenon, morphogenetic field ( a group of cells able to respond to discrete, localized biochemical signals leading to the development of specific morphological structures or organs), combined with my personal visionary imagination. All the tracks are composed of a mixture of self-made recordings from vibration sounds, insect sounds, electromagnetic radiations, motors, industrial noises, signals from EMF (electromagnetic fields).
The sounds are manipulated only with the use of reel-to-reel tape machines and tape recorders without any sound effects.
This release is dedicated to all the people who are fighting against cancer!

REVIEW :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

THE WIRE magazine (Issue May 2020)

" From 2012's Codex and 2015's Chaotic Alterations through collaborations...., the work of Berlin-based Italian sound artist and performer Marta Zapparoli is marked by its sheer adventurousness, unbridled exuberance and gargled theurgy. While no one artist has a particular premium on the (ab)use of tapes, objects, field recordings and effects, in her hands they combine to achieve otherworldly zeniths, cobbled imaginaries where ragged beauty and uglified bliss overlap. On Anisotropic Forces, opener "Angiogenic Morphogenesis" hoards microscopic twitches and shudders into a gelatinous fizz that gives way, eventually, to ringing, rising waves of static, interspersed with airline pilot chatter. Elsewhere on this tape, Zapparoli feasts on compromised buzzing: distortion massaged down from euphoria into depressive dirge, insectoid expression accelerated into a blur."
